Sustainability

This image shows the starting point to my sustainability project where I looked at the brand identity of 'Noir' and how they challenged the issues surrounding sustainability.

This photograph conveys my concept I took forward into my research, along with the current trend 'Monochrome,' that I wanted to include in my final collection, where by the scenario was that I was designing under the 'Noir' Label. I was attracted to the shapes of the skyline from my visit to New York. These were presented and interpreted through repetition of lines and seams in my final garment.

A set of illustration of garments that arrived from my design development, using mixed medias (Fine liner, collage, leather and stitch.) I was influenced by Valentina La Porta, for her use of college, Hannah Cecilla, for her use of stitch on fabric and Connie Blackaller, for her use of both stitch and collage fused together. After much experimentation I developed this outcome.

Continuing with the sustainable theme, I began my research into what sustainability meant to me. This was my starting point and I have used mixed medias to execute primary drawings of various sources.
Sources: Bundles of cardboard boxes packaged ready for recycling, skull representing decaying, human and animal bones and polluted land.
Medias used: Pencil, oil pastels, acrylic paint and ink.

This photograph shows my patterning and manufacturing process of the cropped jacket I created from the layering of disposed, end of roll duct tape, breathing new life into an unconventional material that was ready for landfill.

This is my final outcome.

Final Major Project (FMP)

This photograph shows the starting point of my FMP (Unit 2: Materials, Techniques & Processes) brief. I started with primary drawings from primary sources of industrial structures. Medias used: acrylic paint, fine liners, pencil and pastels

This page shows development of research into my theme where I began to look at the shapes and structure of the underground and took that through to experimentation on the stand to gain inspiration.

This photograph shows the inspiration I took through to my final garment. The colour pallet was taken from the London underground tube map. The metal structure was incorporated into the shoulders. Electrical wires influenced piping features on the garment. Perspective of tunnel view influenced shape and the silhouette was influenced by Gareth Pugh A/W 2013 Collection.

This was the colour and fabric board I produced showing a main base of black with neon highlights.

This is photographed from my sketchbook where I developed my designs using all my research.

Here I began to inject colour and sample initial ideas.

This photograph shows various views of technical samples used in the final garment. I am especially interested in the different types of finishes for a garment and how they are executed
